Cathy Jamieson, committed to co-operative action
Wednesday, August 27, 2008
Cathy Jamieson MSP, the candidate for the Scottish Labour leadership backed by the Co-operative Party, has been interviewed in The Co-operative News. We had already established her commitment to the cause, especially her support for the principles of the People's Rail Campaign. But in the interview she goes further:
"I believe the fundamental values of co-operation - members’ involvement, democracy, people working together - are exactly what we need in Scotland as we take forward a range of policies, not just to tackle problems but also to build on people’s aspirations. Labour needs to win the battle of ideas with the nationalists. Identifying the problems is not enough, Labour needs a leader who can drive us to find the solutions that Scotland needs."
Cathy is going to make Salmond earn his pay, that's for sure. Traditional values, new ideas.
